Jay Bant and
Trey Porter combined for 10 hits, seven RBIs and seven runs scored to lead the Monmouth University baseball team to a 19-4 win at FDU on Tuesday afternoon.

The Hawks went to work in the top of the first, sending 12 men to the plate and scoring eight runs.Â

On just the second pitch of the game,
Harry Padden launched a home run to left center. After the Hawks loaded the bases,
Trey Porter had a bases clearing double.
Chris Walsh followed with his first career home run, a two-run shot. All of those runs were scored before FDU recorded an out. The Hawks added two more runs on a Bant RBI single.Â

After FDU scored two in the bottom of the first, the Hawks went right back to work.
Wyatt Hunt had a two-run single that made it 10-2.

A two-run single from
Shane Dux in the third made it a 12-2 game.Â

Leading 13-3 heading to the sixth, the Hawks got their first two runners on.
Jake Howlett connected on his first career home run and increased the lead to 16-3.Â

After FDU scored one in the bottom of the sixth, the Hawks capped the scoring with three runs in the top of the seventh.
Jay Bant had a two-run triple before
Aidan Bretschneider had an RBI single.Â

That made the final score 19-4.
NOTESÂ
- It was the 101st meeting all time between the two schools but the first since the 2023 season. Monmouth leads the series 60-41.
- Monmouth moves to 2-0 this season against schools in New Jersey (NJIT, FDU).
- Tuesday's win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Hawks.Â
