Casey Caufield and
Wyatt Hunt combined for six hits and six RBIs as the Monmouth University baseball team battled for an 11-6 win at Villanova University on Wednesday afternoon.Â

The Hawks stole a season-high seven bases to win their second straight game.Â

Monmouth put a run on the board in the top of the first as
Trey Porter's two-out single scored Caufield.
Â
The Hawks added to their lead in the top of the second.
Chris Andrews had an RBI double and came around to score on Caufield's sac fly. That made the game 3-0 in favor of the visitors.

Villanova got on the board with two runs in the bottom of the third.
Â
Monmouth extended its lead in the top of the sixth as the Hawks sent eight men to the play and scored four runs. Two-run doubles from Caufield and Hunt made it 7-2 in favor of the Hawks.

Villanova pulled to within two, 7-5 with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

The Hawks used an RBI single from
Andrew Schmid to extend the lead to 8-5 in the seventh.

RBI singles from Hunt and
Nick Lovarco in the eighth pushed the Monmouth lead to 11-5.
Â
The Wildcats scored one more in the bottom of the eighth, but
Jake Nolan pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the 11-6 win.

- It was the 10th meeting all-time between the Hawks and Wildcats. Monmouth leads the series, 6-4 and has won five straight.
- It is Monmouth's second two-game win streak of the season.Â
- The Hawks finished with seven stolen bases in the game. It was the most stolen bases in a game since 2011.
- Monmouth finished with 11 hits in the game. The Hawks improve to 5-1 on the year when recording double digit hits.Â

Nick Lovarco each had two steals to lead Monmouth's efforts on the base paths. Caufield and Walsh lead the Hawks with a team-best eight steals on the season.
- Four Monmouth pitchers combined for eight strikeouts in the game. It was the third time this season the Hawks have recorded eight or more strikeouts in a contest.
Jake Danyluk led the way with four strikeouts.Â
