Jay Bant had two home runs, including a go-ahead grand slam, as the Monmouth University baseball team beat Georgetown University 10-8 on Friday afternoon.

The Hawks extended their current win streak to three straight games.

Monmouth go the scoring started in the first with a leadoff home run from
Harry Padden. However, the Hoyas responded in the bottom half of the frame and led 2-1 after one.

Georgetown extended its lead to 3-1 on a sac fly in the second.Â

Monmouth pulled to within one, 3-2 as Padden's fourth inning single scored
Andrew Schmid.Â

Georgetown extended its lead to 5-2 in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run single.

Bant put the Hawks back on top to stay as he launched a grand slam to right center in the sixth. Bant's home run made it a 6-5 game in favor of the visitors.Â

The Hawks extended their lead to 7-5 in the seventh on
Brendan Buecker's RBI single.Â

Monmouth pushed its lead to 9-5 in the top of the eighth on Bant's second home run of the day. This one went to right center again and was a two-run shot.

Georgetown cut into the Monmouth lead with three runs in the bottom of the eighth and made it a 9-8 game.

A solo home run from
Chris Andrews and a scoreless bottom of the ninth from
Jimmy Wigo secure the 10-8 win.
NOTESÂ
- It was the first meeting between the Hawks and Hoyas since 1990. Monmouth now leads the all-time series 2-0.
- The Hawks' three-game win streak is its longest of the season.Â

Jay Bant finished with two home runs and six RBIs in the game. It was the first time since 2023 that a Hawk had two home runs and at least six RBIs in a game (
Harry Padden versus Towson).
- Four Monmouth pitchers combined for seven strikeouts. It was the seventh time this season, the Hawks have had at least seven strikeouts in a game.Â
- Monmouth improved to 4-1 on the year when it records 10 or more hits in a game.

- Monmouth had six steals in the game, it was the Hawks' second most steals in a game this season.
Harry Padden led the Hawks' efforts with two swipes on the day.Â

Jay Bant had two hits for the Hawks. He now has multiple hits inn back-to-back games and five times this season.Â

Brendan Kenneally picked up his third win of the season in relief. He went 3.1 innings and allowed just one hit and struck out one.

Jimmy Wigo tossed the final 1.2 innings and did not allow a hit while striking out two to pick up his first career save.
