ELON, N.C. – Monmouth University wrapped up its weekend series against Elon with an 11-0 setback in five innings on Sunday afternoon at Hunt Softball Park.
 
Jayla Cadena, who also started in the circle for Monmouth, led the way offensively with a 2-for-3 effort, while Sammy Miller, Giana Scotti, and Lexi Castaneda each added a hit.
 
After a scoreless first inning, Elon broke through with six runs in the second, taking advantage of timely hitting. The Phoenix added five more in the fourth to extend their lead. Cadena (6-7) worked 1.2 innings before handing the ball to Izzy Bonacci, who pitched the final 2.1 frames.
 
Monmouth had several runners on throughout the contest, but could not break through with timely offense, leaving six runners on base to Elon's three.
