Hawks Break Multiple School Records at CAA Championships

HAMPTON, Va. – The Monmouth University men's and women's swimming teams completed their 2024-25 seasons at the CAA Championships over the past four days at the Hampton Aquaplex. 

Jensen Ritter won a bronze in the women's 200 butterfly to highlight the action for the Hawks. Ritter finished the CAA Championship with three individual school records and was part of two relay teams that set marks.

The men's and women's teams combined to set a total of thirteen school records, some of which were broken multiple times. The men's team had six records fall while the women's team set seven marks as well.

Wednesday Events
A school record fell on night one as Edie Ancell, Jensen Ritter, Kristen Gullickson and Bailey Rynkiewicz set the 800 Free Relay mark with a time of 7:34.79.

Thursday Events
Thursday morning saw a school record be broken and three Hawks advance to the B Finals. 
 
Owen Dyson swam a 20.35 in the 50 Free to set the school record and advance to the B Final.
 
Jensen Ritter (4:57.83) and Ziv Cohen (4:29.84) each advanced to the B Final in the 500 free.
 
Thursday evening, Ritter won the B Final of the 500 Free with a school record mark of 4:54.73. The men's 400 medley relay team of Dyson, Victor Pottier Ibanez, Kacper Sobieszuk and Angus Blair set the school record with a time of 3:18.18.

Friday Events
A pair of school records highlighted Friday morning's session that saw 11 Hawks advance to either the A, B, or C Finals. Ritter broke her second individual school record of the week in the 100 Butterfly prelims with a time of 55.11. Pottier Ibanez took down his own school record in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 55.13.
 
Swimming in the A Final of the 100 breaststroke on Friday night, Emilie Mosner set the school record with a time of 1:02.57. Pottier Ibanez broke his own mark in the 100 breaststroke, set during the prelims, with a time of 55.09.

Saturday Events
Saturday morning started with another school record falling, this time in the 200 breaststroke as Pottier Ibanez clocked a time of 1:59.69. He was one of six Hawks to advance to either the A, B, or C Finals on Saturday night. 
 
The breaststroke marks continued to fall in Saturday's finals. Pottier Ibanez broke his own mark set during the prelims with a time of 1:58.83 and won the 200 breaststroke B Final. Mosner swam a 2:15.70 to break the women's 200 breaststroke and finished second in the B Final. 
 
Ritter won bronze and set the school record in the 200 Butterfly A Final with a time of 2:01.06.
 
The Hawks set one more school record as the 400 Free Relay team of Ancell, Ritter, Katie Ryan and Gullickson posted a time of 3:27.36.
