WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth field hockey standouts
Charlie Bowman and
Florence van Doorn have earned Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Weekly honors, the league announced Monday afternoon.
Bowman, a sophomore goalkeeper, was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week, while van Doorn, a freshman back, earned Rookie of the Week recognition.
Bowman played a key role in Monmouth's first shutout of the season, a 4-0 victory over Hofstra in the CAA opener on October 3. The Northern Ireland native recorded two crucial saves to help secure the clean sheet. This marks Bowman's second CAA Defensive Player of the Week honor this season.
Van Doorn contributed on both ends of the field, matching a career-high with three points in the win. She scored a goal and added an assist, while also helping anchor the defense in the team's shutout performance. It's her second time this season being named CAA Rookie of the Week.
The Hawks return home to host Drexel on Friday at 4 p.m. at So Sweet a Cat Field.
The game will be streamed live on FloCollege and NBC Sports Philly.
