WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth field hockey freshman back
Florence van Doorn has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon.
Van Doorn anchored a defensive unit that allowed just one goal in Monmouth's 4–1 victory over Towson, helping the No. 11 Hawks secure their 11th win of the season. The Hawks held the Tigers to only nine shots in Friday's matchup.
A key contributor throughout the season, van Doorn has totaled 13 points on five goals and three assists.
This is the first time this season van Doorn has been named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week and the third time she has earned conference honors overall, previously taking home two CAA Rookie of the Week awards.
Van Doorn and the Hawks return to action Friday at 3 p.m. when they host Northeastern at So Sweet a Cat Field in the regular season finale.Â
