Monmouth 4 (11-3, 4-0 CAA)
Towson 1 (6-11, 2-2 CAA)

TOWSON, Md. – No. 11 Monmouth field hockey earned a 4-1 victory over Towson in its final road test of the regular season Friday afternoon at TU Field Hockey Complex. With today's win, Monmouth has clinched at least a share of the regular season CAA title.

Next week's game against Northeastern will determine who is the No. 1 seed in the CAA Tournament.

Freshman Alicia Vanderlyde opened the scoring in the 11th minute after Monmouth was awarded a penalty corner. Vanderlyde capitalized on a rebound and placed her shot into the right side of the cage to give the Hawks an early 1-0 lead.

Just a minute later, sophomore Claire Campen  doubled Monmouth's advantage with her 10th goal of the season. After Stella Goddard-Despot's initial attempt was saved, Campen collected the rebound and finished to make it 2-0.

In the 20th minute, sophomore Milla Frye  extended the Hawks' lead to 3-0, converting her first penalty stroke of the season and recording her fifth goal of the year. Monmouth carried that three-goal advantage into halftime.

Towson got on the board in the 36th minute when Wiarda Roos  scored off a penalty corner, marking the Tigers' lone goal of the afternoon.

Frye struck again late in the match, scoring her second goal of the game on a backhanded finish after a setup from Lilly Ricks in transition, sealing the 4-1 win for Monmouth.
