Monmouth Softball Announces 2025 Schedule

January 07, 2025

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Entering her first season at the helm, Head Coach Morgan Royer has announced the 2025 schedule for the Monmouth University Softball team which starts at the Spartan Classic hosted by USC Upstate from February 7-9. The Hawks will go head-to-head with the Akron Zips and the Bowling Green Falcons twice each during the first two days in Spartanburg and round out the tournament with a matchup against the Spartans on Sunday.

"I am super excited to get this season rolling," Royer stated. "I think the group we have has been working extremely hard, and their passion to win is going to drive us. I am looking forward to competing for a CAA championship!"

The first 24 games of the 56-game schedule are set to come away from MU Softball Park. The Hawks make the trip out to Las Vegas for five games at the UNLV Rebel Classic from February 14-16, where they will play UMKC, Idaho State, and the host UNLV. Monmouth has never played Idaho State or UNLV in its history and has met with UMKC just once back in 2006, which ended in an 8-0 win the Hawks.

The following weekend from February 21-23, Monmouth heads back to the state of South Carolina to play in the Scotsman Invitational in Clinton. Royer's squad will take on Cleveland State, Valparaiso, Maryland Eastern Shore, and host Presbyterian over the three-day showcase.

Monmouth wraps up their preseason at the Mardi Gras Mambo hosted by Southeastern Louisiana (SLU) from February 28-March 2. The Hawks will take on five different schools – Houston Christian (HCU), Stephen F. Austin, Jackson State, Southern, and SLU – and avoids matchups with Maine, Iowa State, Grambling State, West Georgia, and Army, who will also be in attendance during a busy weekend at the Youngsville Sports Complex.

Royer opens her 2025 Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) campaign at North Carolina A&T for a three-game set from March 7-9. It will be the first trip to Greensboro ever for the Hawks, who were beaten by the Aggies, 2-1, in a series at home in 2023. Monmouth returns to the Northeast with a road contest at Villanova on March 12.

The home opener is set for Friday, March 14, versus Drexel to kick off a three-game weekend series. New Jersey foe Saint Peter's makes a stop in West Long Branch the following Wednesday on March 19 for a doubleheader. A trip to Elon from March 21-23 and a single game at Saint Joseph's in Philadelphia on March 26 takes the Hawks into a series at home versus the reigning CAA champion UNCW to close out the month on March 28-30.

During a seven-game homestand, Monmouth will host Campbell from April 4-6 and will finish with a midweek contest versus Columbia, who the Hawks have played in each of the last three seasons, on April 9.

That immediately leads into a seven-game road trip with CAA series at Stony Brook (April 11-13) and Towson (April 18-20) with a non-conference game at Lehigh on Wednesday, April 16.

Monmouth finishes the 2025 regular season with nine games in 11 days, including a home games versus Princeton (April 23) and CAA foe Delaware (April 25-27), a doubleheader at Rutgers (April 29), and a series at Hofstra (May 1-3).

The top six teams at the end of the regular season will compete in the 2025 CAA Softball Championship from May 7-10. Campbell has been selected as the host with every game set to be played at Amanda Littlejohn Stadium.
