Tucker, Moors Earn CAA Player of the Week Honors

November 04, 2024

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University Field Hockey had two players honored by the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) during its weekly awards announcement Monday afternoon.

Senior Jess Tucker was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week, while sophomore Anna Moors collected Defensive Player of the Week for the second consecutive time.

Tucker and Moors each put up hat tricks in Monmouth's 10-1 drubbing of William & Mary on Friday afternoon, becoming the first pair of Hawks ever to do so in a single game. With the win, the Hawks clinched a spot in the 2024 CAA Field Hockey Championship Tournament for the third straight season.

Tucker registered her first career three-goal contest with goals in the second, third, and fourth quarters. The senior shined on Senior Day, leading the Hawks with five shot attempts. Her 25 points currently lead Monmouth and rank second in the CAA.

Moors, the reigning National Defensive Player of the Week, converted on three corner attempts throughout the contest and added an assist on Lilly Ricks's late fourth quarter tally. It was the Netherlands native's second consecutive hat trick, and her seven points is the most by any Hawk in a game since Annick van Lange's seven on Oct. 16, 2022. Moors now sits tied atop the CAA with 11 goals – a new career high – and ranks first among CAA defensemen in that category.

Tucker, Moors and the Hawks secured the conference's No. 4 seed and will play host and top-seeded Drexel in the 2024 CAA Field Hockey Championship Semifinals on Friday, Nov. 8. The game will be broadcast live on FloLive at 12 p.m.
