DEDHAM, Mass. – Monmouth University's Field Hockey team fought hard in a close contest but fell 3-1 to Northeastern at Dedham Field on Friday afternoon. With the win, Northeastern clinches a spot in the CAA Tournament.

After a scoreless first quarter, Northeastern opened the scoring in the second, with Lauren Rowe converting off a penalty corner at the 22:00 mark. Monmouth quickly responded with a spark from Jess Tucker, who found the back of the net for her 22nd career goal at 29:23 to even the score at 1-1 heading into halftime. Tucker led Monmouth's attack with two shots on goal and continued to create opportunities throughout the game.

The third quarter saw Northeastern reclaim the lead when Juana Gonzalez-Peyru deflected a shot in front of the goal at 41:50, making it 2-1. Monmouth's goalkeeper Jessie Eiselin put in a valiant effort, recording three saves in the match to keep the Hawks within striking distance as Northeastern increased its offensive pressure.

In the fourth quarter, Northeastern capitalized on a penalty corner opportunity when Caroline Sweeney scored a highlight-reel goal from near the post at 55:25, securing a 3-1 lead. Monmouth applied pressure until the final whistle, with Anna Moors and Tucker leading a late push, but they couldn't break through Northeastern's defense.
