Monmouth Routs Towson at Home, 4-1

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University's Field Hockey team delivered a commanding 4-1 victory over Towson in a CAA matchup at So Sweet A Cat Field on Friday afternoon. The Hawks, now 9-5 on the season and 2-2 in conference play, capitalized on early momentum to secure their ninth win of the season.
 
Monmouth wasted no time getting on the board, as Claire Campen struck just 37 seconds into the game with an unassisted goal, setting the tone for the Hawks. Towson (5-9, 1-4 CAA) responded late in the first quarter when Kristin Strijdom found the back of the net at 14:54 to tie the game at 1-1.
 
Monmouth regained control early in the second quarter. Sofia Fouces scored her team-leading seventh goal of the season at 16:16, assisted by Jess Tucker, to give the Hawks a 2-1 lead. The Hawks continued to press, and at 26:50, Anna Moors extended the advantage to 3-1 with a goal off a beautifully executed penalty corner, assisted by Calista Schwartz and Tucker.
 
Monmouth added another goal in the third quarter when Bella Coluzzi notched her first goal of the season at 35:15, with Schwartz earning her second assist of the day. From there, the Hawks' defense and goalkeeping tandem of Jessie Eiselin and Charlie Bowman kept Towson at bay. Eiselin played the first 30 minutes and made two saves, while Bowman entered in the second half, recording three saves to preserve the lead.
