WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University men's lacrosse continued its tradition of playing international competition when it hosted Keio University on Friday afternoon at Kessler Stadium.
The Hawks finished the four-quarter, two-half game, with a commanding 18-7 victory after the teams reset the score midway through the action.
Bobby Keane opened the scoring for Monmouth, followed by Nick Teets, giving the Hawks a 2-0 lead in the first quarter. Despite Keio narrowing the gap to 2-1, Monmouth made a goalie switch from Tommy Heller to Cody Lavin at the start of the second quarter and turned on the offense. Jake Schneider, Sean Ketchen, Brendan Dundas, and Brady Brown added to the scoreboard, with Brown netting three goals before halftime, putting Monmouth ahead 8-3 at the break.
The second half saw Arjun Gill step into the net for Monmouth as Keane and Danny Boyer struck early, extending the lead. Though Keio tried to mount a comeback, Monmouth's defense, along with goals from Boyer to complete his hat trick, Riley Chester, Matt Porazzo, and Ian Macrae, ensured the Hawks maintained control.
Monmouth closed out the game with back-to-back goals from Kade Hoogstraten, with Dylan Cadigan anchoring the defense in goal.
