Lauren Relik was named Coastal Athletic Conference (CAA) Field Hockey Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.
This marks the second consecutive week a Hawk has been named the conference's Rookie of the Week. Freshman goalkeeper
Jessie Eiselin was given the honor a week ago.
Relik was a key contributor to a week that saw Monmouth go 2-0. After earning her first career start in a 2-1 victory at No. 20 Delaware, the Belgium native registered a hat trick in a 4-0 win over Boston University at home on Sunday. All three of Relik's goals came in the final 22 minutes, with the first two coming from nearly identical locations just 15 seconds apart. With her big Sunday afternoon performance, the freshman moves into a tie for 12
th in the CAA in goals.
Monmouth (6-3) is in the midst of a four-game win streak and sits atop the CAA standings with a 2-0 conference record. Relik and the Hawks look to extend the team's win streak to five games as they host James Madison on Friday, September 29, at 4 p.m. at So Sweet A Cat Field.
