RELIK TALLIES HAT TRICK IN 4-0 BEATDOWN OF BOSTON U

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Freshman midfielder Lauren Relik registered her first career hat trick to lead the Monmouth University Field Hockey Team to its fourth straight win Friday afternoon.

Coming into the day with no points on the season, Relik scored three times in the second half to down the Boston University Terriers by a score of 4-0.
 
After a scoreless first half, the Belgium native gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead from in close off a feed from junior Johanna Karlhuber – her team-leading fifth assist of 2023. Relik struck again just 15 seconds later from nearly an identical spot for an unassisted tally and a 2-0 Monmouth lead.

About a minute later, it was graduate midfielder Nora Goddard-Despot potting her third goal as a Hawk off a rebound.

The Hawks controlled much of the third and fourth quarter, and after successfully fending off three BU corner tries, Relik found the back of the cage for the third time of the afternoon with 1:21 remaining to put an exclamation point on the game.

Goalkeeper Jessie Eiselin made four saves on the day for her second shutout of the year.
