WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Mackenzie Bloss of the Monmouth University softball team was named to the 2023 Colonial Athletic Association Softball All-Rookie Team, conference officials announced Tuesday morning.
The freshman outfielder becomes the first-ever Hawk to receive CAA softball postseason honors.

As a true freshman, Bloss started every game in center field for the Hawks and threw out three baserunners. She helped lead the Blue & White to eight conference wins in its inaugural season in the CAA by posting a .280 batting average in league games – the team's fifth-best mark. Bloss was tied for the team lead with 23 hits and six doubles versus CAA opponents this season, all while tallying a team high in total bases (31).
Bloss's best outing of the 2023 campaign came on March 24 in a 9-2 win at Hofstra where she went 3-for-4, drove in two runs, scored twice, and tallied three extra-base hits. In addition, she named CAA Rookie of the Week once. The Fords, NJ native garnered the weekly recognition for a 5-for-10 weekend series at Hampton. Not only was it the first CAA series win in program history, but Bloss ripped two doubles, scored two runs, stole a base, and picked up an outfield assist.
