NAVARRO, NIEDROWSKI CLAIM CAA T&F WEEKLY AWARDS

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – For the second consecutive week, a pair of Hawks from the Monmouth University track and field program, Ashley Navarro and Evan Niedrowski, have been given Colonial Athletic Association weekly honors, the league announced Tuesday morning.

Navarro ran a league-leading time of 2:04.98 in the women's 800m to win the event at the Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday evening, and in turn has been named the CAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week. The redshirt senior now boasts the second-fastest time in school history, while also ranking 19th in the NCAA East Region and 31st in the country.

Niedrowski, who earned the CAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week award, made headlines by setting the school record in the javelin with a throw of 74.20m, which was plenty good enough to capture first place at the meet hosted by Princeton University. The sophomore's mark now leads the CAA, ranks fifth in the East, and ninth nationally.

The Hawks will make the short trip to Piscataway, NJ, for the Rutgers Relays this weekend. The two-day meet is set to begin on Friday, April 21.
