LEICHT SIGNS THREE FOR 2023-24 SEASON


WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University men's tennis head coach Chris Leicht has announced the addition of three new student-athletes to the program for the upcoming fall semester.  
 
Gabriel Berner, Adam Hillerby, and Patricio Gallegos will begin competition for the Hawks in 2023-24. 
 
"We are pleased to add these three players to our Monmouth men's tennis program," Leicht said. "I am confident that they will be amazing additions to our team." 
 
Berner will be the Hawk's sole incoming freshman next fall, joining the team from Stockholm, Sweden. He attended high school at Stockholm Idrottsgymnasium and is a two-time national champion in doubles in the U14 age group. Berner has also won doubles titles in two ITF tournaments. He currently has an 11.31 Universal Tennis Rating. Berner intends to major in business at Monmouth. 
 
Hillerby joins the Hawks as a Graduate transfer from Leeds, Yorkshire and is anticipated to graduate with a degree in Economics from Newcastle University in England. He played No. 1 singles for his university and finished 12-2 overall in his last season. Hillerby has represented his country in National Junior tournaments and currently has an 11.7 Universal Tennis Rating. Hillerby will work toward his MBA at Monmouth starting next fall. 
 
Gallegos will join the Hawks' roster following four seasons at Tennessee Wesleyan, where he competed for the Bulldogs. In 2021, Gallegos was awarded Second Team All-Conference and was ranked Top 20 nationally in doubles. The next season, he finished as a First Team All-Conference choice and received Second Team All-America honors in singles. Gallegos finished ranked No. 21 in the nation and currently has an 11.6 Universal Tennis Rating. Gallegos is a native of Osorno, Chile and will earn his MBA at Monmouth next fall.  
 
Monmouth will begin its spring season on Saturday, February 4th against Temple at 4PM at Little Silver Tennis Club.
