PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Monmouth University Field Hockey Team had its six-game win streak snapped at the hands of undefeated No. 6 Rutgers, 4-2, in a battle between the two Garden State schools on Sunday afternoon.

Rutgers, the lone unbeaten team left in Division I, took a 1-0 lead into the half with the shots being tied at four apiece.
The Scarlet Knights scored again at the 2:36 mark of the third quarter to extend the lead to two, but junior forward
Sofia Fouces scored her CAA-leading 12
th goal of the season 2:50 later to get the Hawks on the board.
Jess Tucker remained hot with her third goal of the weekend and sixth of 2023 in the final minute of the quarter to tie the game at two. Fouces was credited with the assist off the set corner play – her fifth of the year.
Jessie Eiselin made eight saves in net for Monmouth, but Rutgers added two goals in the fourth quarter to improve to 12-0.
