HAWKS DOMINATE TOWSON ON THE ROAD, CRUISE TO 5-0 WIN

TOWSON, MD – The Monmouth University Field Hockey Team erupted for five goals en route to a shutout win over conference foe Towson in Maryland on Friday afternoon, 5-0.

Along with a season-high 31 shots, the win marks the fifth time this season Monmouth has put up four or more goals in a single game.

After a scoreless first period, junior midfielder Jess Tucker tallied her fourth goal of 2023 after freshman defender Anna Moors forced a turnover in the Hawks' end. Tucker took a long pass from Sofia Fouces and made a short run of her own before potting one far side from just inside the right half of the circle, giving the Hawks a 1-0 into halftime.

In the second half, Monmouth broke out for four goals. The first came off the stick of freshman Lauren Relik, who made a swift move to beat the Towson goalkeeper one-on-one. Relik's fourth of the year came off Tucker's fourth assist of the season 4:13 into the third quarter.

Graduate senior India Shakespeare extended the Monmouth lead to three after shoving home a pass from Fouces in the 42nd minute. Shakespeare's second of the season gives Fouces sole possession of first in the CAA in terms of points with 26.

In the fourth, Moors socred her first career goal on a corner opportunity with assists from the grad transfer duo of Shakespeare and Nora Goddard-Despot. Tucker recorded her second goal of the game nearly two minutes later at the 5:31 mark of the period to bring the score to 5-0, Hawks.
