NEWARK, Del. – The Monmouth University men's and women's cross country teams opened the 2022 season at the Delaware Opener, hosted by the University of Delaware, on Saturday morning. The men's squad placed first out of three competing schools while the women finished second out of four schools.

Louis DiLaurenzio paced the men's field in the 5k at the White Clay Creek State Park, crossing the line in 15:45.7. Marisa Kilgarriff earned a fourth-place finish in the season-opening event on the women's side, clocking in with a time of 18:47.7.
