CHESTNUT HILL, MA – The Monmouth University field hockey team scored twice in the second half, but it wasn't enough as No. 21 Boston College held off the Hawks in a 3-2 final on Sunday afternoon at Newton Field Hockey Complex.

Boston College built a 2-0 lead early in the second half, but Monmouth quickly responded only 20 seconds later by scoring off a penalty corner to pull back within one. Annick van Lange put in her 54th career goal off a feed from Sophie Dercksen to make it a 2-1 game at that point.

The Eagles regained their two-goal advantage with seven seconds left in the third quarter and held off a late push from the Hawks in the one-goal win. Dercksen swatted in a goal for Monmouth with 23 seconds remaining in regulation to run the final total to 3-2.

GAME NOTES
- The matchup was the first-ever meeting between Monmouth and Boston College.
- Monmouth played its sixth consecutive ranked opponent.
- The Hawks fell to 1-5 against ranked teams in 2022 and 0-3 on the road.
