CALI, Colombia – Two members of the Monmouth University men's track and field team are set to compete for their respective countries at the World Athletics U20 Championships this week in Cali, Colombia.
Luke Hitchcock, an incoming freshman, will represent New Zealand in the 800m, while
Evan Niedrowski, a rising sophomore, will be competing with Team USA.

Hitchcock placed third at the New Zealand U20 Championships in early March, crossing the line in 1:56.79. He also earned the bronze medal in the 800m at the Daikin Night of 5's event in late March, clocking in with a personal best time of 1:50.35.

Niedrowski took home the gold medal in the javelin throw at the USA Track and Field U20 Outdoor Track and Field Championships in late June, achieving a throw of 70.58m. Two weeks earlier, the thrower earned Second Team All-American honors at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, placing 11
th overall with a mark of 70.22m. The Wyomissing, Pa. native's best result on the season came at the Virginia Challenge in April, where he finished third with an effort of 71.42m.

Over 1,500 athletes from 141 countries will descend upon the Pascual Guerrero Olympic Stadium in Cali throughout the course of the week. The action will be streamed live in certain territories on the World Athletics
