WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Following 24 years at the helm of the Monmouth University women's soccer program,
Dr. Krissy Turner announced that she will be stepping down from her role to accept the head women's soccer coaching position at the University of Pennsylvania.
"We are so thankful for the job Krissy has done to elevate our women's soccer program over the past 24 years," Director of Athletics
Jeff Stapleton said. "Her incredible run of success, with 10 conference championships, eight NCAA Tournament appearances and the academic prowess of her student-athletes, has put the program in a terrific position moving forward. We wish her the best in her new role and appreciate her dedication to Monmouth University."
In 24 seasons with the Hawks, Turner made her mark after compiling an overall record of 282-130-43 that included a 164-43-20 mark in conference games as a member of the Northeast Conference (NEC) and Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Turner guided the Hawks to a winning season in 21 of 24 years while logging 16 straight campaigns with a winning record. During Monmouth's nine seasons in the MAAC, she led the Hawks to a 74-6-6 record in conference tilts with 52 shutouts and nine conference tournament appearances.
"Monmouth will always hold a special place in my heart," Turner said. "I am grateful to Dr. McNeil for taking a chance on me 24 years ago as well as appreciative to the Monmouth community for all of their support on and off the field. To all of the young women I had the pleasure to coach, for my assistant coaches and support staff who were instrumental in the program's success I have nothing but gratitude and respect. The culture of the program has never been better and I expect the tradition of excellence to continue for years to come. However, the opportunity to coach in the Ivy League at one of the top academic institutions in the world was too good to pass up. Thank you, Monmouth Hawks, for an unbelievable ride. Fly Hawks."
The nine-time conference coach of the year won 10 conference regular season championships, eight conference tournament titles and made eight NCAA Tournament appearances in her 24 years. She coached 31 conference major award winners, 158 all-conference team selections, and 35 all-region performers.
Under Turner's guidance, the Hawks not only experienced a great deal of success on the field but also in the classroom as Monmouth earned 24 straight NSCAA/United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award honors and two Academic All-Americans.
