WEST POINT, N.Y. – Behind a career night from Ashley Lavrich and the first collegiate goal from Maddie DeMaio, the Monmouth University women's soccer team rolled to a 3-0 victory over Army West Point on Thursday evening at Malek Stadium at Clinton Field.
The Hawks improved to 2-1-1 on the season with their second victory of the year, while Army fell to 2-3-0. Monmouth outshot the Black Knights, 16-11, and placed five attempts on target while limiting Army to four. Tallulah Miller stopped all four shots she faced to record her second clean sheet in four games to start 2026.
"From the first whistle to the last, I thought we were sharp, disciplined, and committed to the game plan, said Head Coach Kylee Flynn. "To come on the road and earn a 3-0 result says a lot about this group."
Monmouth immediately established itself in the attacking third, producing three shots and three corner kicks inside the opening nine minutes. Grace Notarfrancesco sent the first attempt wide just 90 seconds into the match before Lavrich had a shot blocked and Marie Bogue forced Army goalkeeper Karalyn Dail into a save at 4:30.
Army created its first dangerous opportunity in the 12th minute when Sabrina Rogers tested Miller, but the Monmouth goalkeeper made the stop. The Hawks continued to generate chances at the other end, with Bogue, Evangeline Perdomo and Emily De Almeida each recording attempts over the next 13 minutes.
Saar van der Boom helped set up Lavrich with a cross from the left side, who found the back of the net in the 30th minute to give Monmouth a 1-0 advantage. The goal was enough to send the Hawks into halftime with the lead after they held an 8-4 advantage in shots during the opening 45 minutes.

Army committed a foul just over two minutes into the second half, sending Lavrich to the penalty spot. She converted the opportunity for her second goal of the night, burying the shot into the upper right corner and pushing Monmouth's lead to 2-0.
The brace marked the first two-goal match of Lavrich's career. She added an assist later in the half to finish with four points, tying her career high.
Monmouth put the match away in the 71st minute with another milestone moment. Bogue and Lavrich combined to set up DeMaio behind the Black Knights defense, who converted for the first goal of her collegiate career. The finish gave the Hawks a commanding 3-0 advantage and capped the scoring for the night.
The Hawks' defense took care of the rest, anchored by Cadi Hoke's 21st consecutive 90-minute performance. Army generated several late attempts, but Monmouth blocked multiple shots before Miller made her final save in the 86th minute to preserve the shutout and put a halt to the Black Knights' two-match winning home winning streak.
Flynn continued, "It was a complete team performance. We battled for the full 90 minutes, and we had contributions from so many different players. That's what makes this win so special. It was a great team win, and a performance we can be really proud of."
Lavrich finished with two goals and one assist on four shots, giving her a team-best three goals this season, matching her scoring total from a season ago. Bouge's helper was her second of the year, while van der Boom's assist marked the first point of the freshman's collegiate career.
Monmouth has now earned a result in three of its first four matches of the 2026 season and will look to make it two wins in a row when it hosts FDU on Sunday. Kickoff from Hesse Field on the Great Lawn is set for 1 p.m. on FloSports.
