BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Evan Niedrowski placed tenth in the men's javelin at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, punching his ticket to the 2022 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships. Needing to finish in the top-12, Niedrowski's throw of 70.04m on his third attempt placed him above the qualifying line and secured the thrower a spot in the championships.
 
Three other Hawks also competed throughout the week at the Preliminary Round, which was held on the campus of Indiana University. Danielle Steff's throw of 49.57m in the javelin on Thursday was a season-best but slotted her in at 14^th on the leaderboard, just two spots below the qualifying line. Mohamed Diagouraga finished 38^th in the triple jump with a mark of 14.92m on Friday, while Veronica Chainov finished in a tie for 39^th in the high jump on Saturday, clearing 1.71m.
