RICHMOND, Va. – Three student-athletes from the Monmouth University men's soccer team were named to 2022 All-CAA teams, the league announced Wednesday morning.
Senior forward
Ben Zakowski received All-CAA Second Team honors, while sophomore defender
Gabe Dahlin made the Third Team. Redshirt freshman
Eryk Dymora was the only goalkeeper named to the All-Rookie Team.
Zakowski earned his second career All-Conference honors after scoring a team high seven goals while also contributing two assists. The senior's seven goals rank fifth among CAA leaders. Zakowski also finished second in the conference with three game-winners. His first was the lone goal on opening night in the 34
th minute versus St. John's. The senior played hero again in the 26
th minute in a 3-0 win over Stony Brook on September 30 and finally on a free kick in the 10
th minute versus Hartford on Senior Night. He would go on to score another goal against Hartford as a part of his second career two-goal game.
After leading Bucknell in minutes played as a true freshman in 2021, Dahlin started 13 games for the Hawks. The sophomore, who was recognized as an All-Conference player for the first time in his career, was a key piece in a back line that allowed just one goal per game which was fourth-best in the conference.
In his first season as the starting goalkeeper for Monmouth,
Eryk Dymora started all 15 games in net. He posted six shutouts in 2022, while sporting a .750 save percentage – both ranking third in the conference. Dymora is the first Hawk to make a conference All-Rookie Team since Zakowski in 2019.
In their first season as a member of the CAA, the Hawks finished their 2022 season with a 7-7-1 overall record and went 2-6-1 in conference play.
