FIELD HOCKEY CAPS REGULAR SEASON WITH 3-2 WIN AT UMASS LOWELL

LOWELL, MA – The Monmouth University field hockey team earned a 3-2 victory over the UMass Lowell Riverhawks in its regular season finale on Sunday afternoon in Massachusetts.

The win gives the Hawks 10 wins on the year, making it the seventh consecutive season head coach Carli Figlio has led the program to double-digit wins.

Graduate senior forward Annick van Lange opened the scoring by extending her goal streak to six games with her 21st of the season 11:51 into the contest. van Lange has now scored in 10 of her last 11 games.

The Riverhawks would tie the game at one goal apiece 3:29 into the second quarter. van Lange would score her second of the game with 39 seconds left in the first half to give Monmouth the lead back at 2-1 entering the half.

Early in the second half, van Lange completed her fourth hattrick of the year after receiving a pass from freshman midfielder Meis Kengen. Kengen is now tied atop the CAA with teammate Bente Steenhorst with nine assists.

UMass Lowell would add another 58 seconds in the fourth quarter, but goalkeeper Phileine Hazen stood tall while facing 33 total shots for the game. On 11 shots on goal, the true freshman made nine saves to secure the 3-2 win.

GAME NOTES
- Monmouth has ended their regular season on a six-game win streak or better in six of the last seven seasons.
- Monmouth will enter next weekend's CAA Championship tournament as the conference's No. 1 seed.
- The Hawks improve to 5-3 on the road.

- van Lange is second in the nation in goals per game (1.29).
- Meis Kengen has tied teammate Bente Steenhorst for the CAA assists lead with nine.

The Hawks will play fourth-seeded Drexel in the semifinals of the CAA Championship tournament on Friday, November 4, at 1:05 p.m. Monmouth defeated the Dragons by a score of 4-2 in their regular season matchup on October 28.
