BOSTON, MA – The Monmouth University field hockey team took down CAA-leading Northeastern Sunday afternoon by a final score of 4-3 in Boston.

The win marks the third straight victory for the hawks, all three coming on the road.

Monmouth started the game on fire, converting on its first two penalty corner opportunities. Just 48 seconds into the game,
Annick van Lange scored her 14
th goal of the season from
Bente Steenhorst and
Rosa Boender.

Three minutes later, van Lange netted another, this time with assists coming from
Aylin Aufenacker and Steenhorst.

There would be no scoring until about four minutes left in the first half, when Northeastern cut their deficit to one.

van Lange would complete her first-half hattrick with 20 seconds remaining in the second quarter. It is her second game this season with at least three goals, which are the only two such performances in the CAA in 2022.

In the second half, Northeastern found the back of the cage twice to tie the game at three apiece.

In the final two minutes, van Lange worked down the sideline and sent a shot towards the net. Monmouth's
Maggie Downs deflected the ball in for her second goal of the season. The Hawks would hold on for the final 1:46 to improve to 3-1 in conference play and 7-7 overall.
