FIELD HOCKEY’S COMEBACK FALLS SHORT AT RUTGERS 3-2

PISCATAWAY, NJ – No. 20 Monmouth University Field Hockey (4-3) scored two goals to cut the deficit to one, but couldn't get the equalizer in falling to No. 10 Rutgers University (5-1) on Friday afternoon. Annick van Lange and Lorane Vanneste each scored and continue to lead Monmouth in scoring this season.

Rutgers got the scoring started on a penalty stroke in the first quarter, but were able to string together two goals in the second quarter just 1:26 apart to open up a 3-0 lead. The Hawks were not done though, and Vanneste scored late in the half to get the Hawks on the board heading into the break. After a scoreless third, van Lange scored following a corner to cut the deficit to one, but MU couldn't find the tying goal and fell to the Scarlet Knights by a 3-2 count.
