DURHAM, NH – Senior midfielder Ireen Frenken (Tilburg, Netherlands/ Odulphus Lyceum) scored four goals for Monmouth with sophomore forward Aylin Aufenacker (Hamburg, Germany/ Gymnasium Eppendorf) adding her fifth goal of the season against the New Hampshire Wildcats Sunday afternoon, which lifted the Hawks to a 5-1 playoff clinching victory.
Aufenacker opened up the game for the Hawks with a goal 30 seconds into the game off of an assist from junior Annick van Lange (Sint-Job, Belgium/ Annuntia Institute) to put the Hawks up 1-0. Ten minutes later, Ireen Frenken added her first goal of the game off of a cross from Aufenacker to put Monmouth ahead 2-0.
In the third quarter, Monmouth scored their third unanswered goal when Frenken blasted a shot from just inside the shooting area off of a feed from Julianna Carletti. Frenken piled on two more goals in the third and fourth quarter off of corners to slam the door on the Wildcats and send the Hawks to the post season.
