FIELD HOCKEY WINS REGULAR SEASON CHAMPIONSHIP

ORONO, ME - Annick van Lange (Sint-Job, Belgium/ Annuntia Institute),  Aylin Aufenacker (Hamburg, Germany/ Gymnasium Eppendorf), and Aly Perez (Fairfax, VA/ South County) contributed goals in the 4-3 win over UC Davis to lift the Hawks to their second consecutive America East Regular Season Championship. 
 
Aufenacker opened up the game for the Hawks three minutes into the first quarter with a goal to put Monmouth up one. UC Davis answered back with two goals of their own in the first quarter and forced Monmouth to play from behind. 
 
Perez delivered her first goal of the season in the 21st minute to bring the Hawks back to even at 2-2 before halftime. In the third quarter, Annick van Lange netted two goals three minutes to put the game out of reach and help secure Monmouth's number one spot in the America East Championship.

- The Hawks claimed at least a share of the program's eighth regular season title, their seventh consecutive regular season crown.
-The Hawks will enter the conference tournament as the number one seed for the eighth time in history and seventh straight season.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- The six-game win streak is the longest since 2019 when they won nine straight.
- First ever meeting with UC Davis
- It was the Hawks' first neutral site game since 2016 (vs. #19 Iowa at Kent State 9/10/16) and neutral site victory since defeating St. Francis (Pa) in the 2012 NEC Tournament (11/2/12).
- Aufenacker now has six goals on the year and 13 in her career.
- van Langue now has two multi goal games on the year and 32 career goals for the Hawks.
- Aly Perez scored her first goal of the year and second of her career, first since 2018.
- Ireen Frenken's six game point streak snapped.
 
PLAYOFF PICTURE:
Monmouth (7-1) has clinched the number one seed and the right to host the four-team America East Championship on So Sweet A Cat Field on April 22-24. The Hawks will take on UMass Lowell (5-3), which punched its ticket to the postseason with its 3-2 win over Stanford yesterday. The winner of the regular season finale tomorrow between UAlbany (4-3) and Stanford (5-2) will take on Maine (6-1) in the other semifinal match up. All tournament information, including game times and broadcast information will be announced by the league office next week.
