FIELD HOCKEY HANDLES CAL, 3-0

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University field hockey team put forth an impressive team performance in a win against the Cal Golden Bears Wednesday afternoon at So Sweet A Cat Field. Monmouth had three different goal scorers in the win and did not surrender a shot on goal.

Monmouth broke the ice in the second quarter when sophomore Aylin Aufenacker (Hamburg, Germany/ Gymnasium Eppendorf) scored her third goal of the year off of a scramble in front of the net with the assist going to redshirt junior Hannah Schiavo (Glen Gardner, NJ/ Voorhees). Katie Yoder followed suit about nine minutes later and scored her first goal of the year off of an assist from junior Annick van Lange (Sint-Job, Belgium/ Annuntia Institute) to give the Hawks a two-goal cushion at the end of the first half.

In the fourth, Aufenacker drew a penalty to set up senior Ireen Frenken's (Tilburg, Netherlands/ Odulphus Lyceum) successful penalty stroke to put the game officially out of reach at 3-0.
