TRACK AND FIELD OPENS SEASON AT ARMY

WEST POINT, NY – The Monmouth University men's and women's track and field team competed in West Point, New York today against Army in a dual meet. This was the first action that men's and women's track and field have seen in 2021 after their first scheduled meet for was canceled last week.
 
13 events were won for both the men and women across the meet. The men had 9 first place finishes while the women had four. Chibuzo Amonu had a strong showing in the hammer throw with a distance of 50.02 meters and won the shot put with a throw of 12.87 meters. Montel Johnson won the hammer throw with a distance of 57.48 meters. Naeem Green claimed first place in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 14.89. The women's long jump was won by Isabelle Warren with a distance of 5.47.  Louis DiLourenzio had a strong showing in the men's 1500 meter coming in second with a time of 3:51.65. James Hoffman came in right behind in third place with a time of 3:51.96.

- Isabelle Warren won the 100m hurdles with a time of 15.18.
- Lauren Saifi won the women's pole vault with a height of 3.31 meters.
- Derek Vander Woude won the men's high jump with a height of 1.96 meters.
- Randy Showmaker won the pole vault registering a height of 4.65 meters.
- In the men's long jump, Khalid Slocum won with a distance of 7.05 meters.
- Mohamed Diagourga finished first in the triple jump with a result of 14.47 meters.
- In the men's shot put, Daniel Gilligan won with a distance of 16.24 meters.
- Mujeeb Ali placed first in the discus throw with 49.09 meters
- Montel Johnson finished in first place with a hammer throw of 57.48 meters.
