STRATFORD, NJ – The Monmouth University bowling team opened its 2021 season at the Northeast Classic hosted by Mount St. Mary's and Chestnut Hill at 30 Strikes Lanes on Saturday.
The Hawks went 3-2 across five traditional games in the abbreviated tournament, with victories over Saint Francis, Chestnut Hill and LIU.
Preseason All-MEAC selection
Saige Yamada led Monmouth with a ninth-place individual finish. Yamada rolled three 200+ games and averaged 201.60 in the event.

Saige Yamada rolled three 200+ games, giving her 25-career 200+ games. Yamada tossed a 225 in the final game of the day. Yamada's top-10 finish was the fourth of her career.

Jamie Phelan made her collegiate debut with a 12th-place effort that included three 200+ performances, including a team-weekend high of 236. Phelan's 236 was the fourth-highest single game total of the tournament.

Skylar Smith had one 200+ game, giving her 21 in her career, and placed 19th overall.

Camelia Coffman added one 200+ game, the 30th of her career. Coffman placed 22nd among all participants.
