EDISON, NJ – For the fourth consecutive year, the Monmouth University men's tennis team has been selected to finish first in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league announced this morning.
The Hawks received six out of seven first place votes, leading the way with 48 total points. The program has won four straight MAAC Championships dating back to 2016.
MU returns multiple key players from last season, including fifth year
Max Benaim, senior
Will Cooke Wharton, fifth year
Sergio Martinez, and senior
Charles Gortzounian.
Also returning are juniors
Sasha Pachnev and
Austin Klapman as well as sophomores
Christof Zeiler,
Arthur Dussaubat, and
Gabriel Busato.
Newcomers include junior
Lucca Silva, sophomore
Victor Castro, and freshmen
Charlie Penman and
Diego Laporta.
Monmouth opens the 2020-21 season tonight against Fairleigh Dickinson. The match will be played at Little Silver Tennis Club at 9:30 PM.
