WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University field hockey team (9-5, 4-2 AE) won their fourth consecutive game on Friday afternoon, defeating UAlbany (9-5, 4-2 AE) by a score of 3-0.
After both teams went scoreless over the first half of play,
Annick van Lange opened the scoring midway through the third quarter, taking an assist from
Lieve Meidane to put the Hawks up 1-0. With under a minute to go in the quarter, van Lange found the back of the net again following a corner opportunity, giving the Hawks a 2-0 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
Early in the final frame, Meidane fired a shot that was pushed away by the UAlbany goalkeeper.
Lorane Vanneste capitalized on the rebound opportunity and netted her tenth goal of the season, increasing Monmouth's lead and sealing its fourth straight win.
