#22 FIELD HOCKEY FALLS TO VERMONT, 2-0


WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The #22 Monmouth University field hockey team fell in their second conference matchup of the season, losing to Vermont (7-4) by a score of 2-0.
 
The Catamounts took the early lead midway through the first quarter when Kate Hall fed a perfect pass to a streaking Alina Gerke who found the back of the net for her fourth goal of the season. Vermont would strike again three minutes into the 2nd half, taking a 2-0 lead after Clodagh Ferry capitalized on a corner opportunity from the top of the circle, netting her seventh goal of the campaign.
 
Despite pulling their goalie midway through the final quarter, the Hawks were unable to find a goal, getting shutout for just the 2nd time this season.
