FIELD HOCKEY OVERWHELMS DREXEL, 5-0

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Four different Hawks scored, led by freshman Colleen Craven's (Moorestown, NJ / Moorestown) first career goals, while sophomore goalkeeper Kate O'Hogan (Dublin, Ireland / Mount Anville Secondary) made three saves as the Monmouth University field hockey team topped Drexel, 5-0, Friday afternoon.

The Blue and White (5-2) jumped on the Dragons in the opening period, peppering nine shots, seven reaching target, in the first 15 minutes.  The Hawks broke through in the 10th minute as rookie Yasmin Pratt (Wicklow, Ireland / Kilkenny College HS) deflected in a corner to give MU a lead it would never relinquish.  Pratt collected a ball near midfield a minute later, split two defenders and connected with Annick van Lange (Sint-Job, Belgium / Annuntia Institute) in the circle.  The sophomore settled, spun and found Aylin Aufenacker (Hamburg, Germany / Gymnasium Eppendorf) in stride where she beat the keeper to the far side to put Monmouth up a pair.

Four minutes into the second frame, Stefanie Bigler (North Vancouver, BC / Seycove Secondary School) collected a loose ball inside the defensive 25, sent a 70 yard pass to Josephine van der Hoop (Rotterdam, The Netherlands / Wolfert van Borselen) where she beat a defender to the endline and sent a cross to a streaking Bigler who capped off the run with a one-timer, her second marker of the year.

Craven scored both of her goals in the final quarter, 54-seconds apart.  The freshman broke behind the Dragon's defense and capitalized off a feed from van der Hoop inside the far post for her first career goal before connecting with Pratt for the final marker of the afternoon.
