EDISON, NJ –
Rudy Beck and
Chris Hervada of the Monmouth University men's lacrosse team were named to the All-MAAC First Team, while
Gordon Phillips collected Second Team honors and
Cade Stratton earned MAAC All-Rookie Team recognition, the league announced on Wednesday.
Beck secured All-MAAC honors for the first time in his career at the lone First Team Short-Stick Midfielder spot after totaling 22 ground balls and nine caused turnovers in 12 games for the Hawks. The sophomore also scored one goal and added one assist on the year.
Joining Beck on the First Team was Hervada, who was a Second Team and All-Rookie selection as a freshman in 2018. Hervada started every game on defense for Monmouth and led the Hawks with 40 ground balls. He was second on the team with 17 caused turnovers, including two performances with six against Detroit Mercy and Siena, to set and equal the single-game program record.
An All-Rookie selection as a freshman, Phillips bookends his career with a Second Team Long-Stick Midfielder award. Phillips played in 11 games and contributed four assists, while ranking third on the team with 32 ground balls and tied for third with 11 caused turnovers. His career totals of 103 ground balls and 42 caused turnovers are both third in the Monmouth record book.
