WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth Men's Lacrosse delivered one of its most complete performances of the seasons Saturday, shutting out Moun St. Mary's for the first half and cruising to a 14-5 victory at Kessler Stadium.
The Hawks held the Mountaineers scoreless through the opening 30 minutes, marking just the sixth time in program history Monmouth has pitched a shutout in a single half. It was the first since the Hawks blanked NJIT in the second half on March 5, 2025.
Connor Gorman recorded a career-high five goals to pace the offense, while
Brendan Dundas led all scorers with six points on three goals and three assists. Riley Cheser continued his consistent start to the season with a goal, extending his scoring streak to four games.
Bradley Wyckoff added his first goal of the season as Monmouth placed seven players in the scoring column.
The Hawks seized control early, building a 5-0 lead after the first quarter before extending the margin to 8-0 at halftime. Monmouth's defense set the tone, limiting Mount St. Mary's to just eight first-half shots and forcing multiple turnovers that fueled the transition offense.
Hayden Chester caused a season-high turnovers, anchoring a defensive unit that disrupted rhythm throughout.
Dylan Cadigan earned the win in goal, making 10 saves over 56:03 of action.
Arjun Gill entered in relief late and recorded a save to close out the contest.
Mount St. Mary's broke through in the third quarter, but the Hawks answered each time to keep the lead comfortably in double figures. Monmouth outscored the Mountaineers in three of four quarters.
