Monmouth Dominates Wagner for 15-7 Win in Home Opener

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth Men's Lacrosse delivered a dominant performance on Tuesday afternoon, rolling past Wagner 15-7 behind another record-setting day from senior Ty Caffarelli.

Cafarelli re-broke his own program record with eight goals, finishing with nine points – the most ever by a Hawk in a single game. His afternoon goal total tied the NCAA Division I single-game high for 2026 and are the most by a CAA player so far this year. He scored in all four quarters as Monmouth built a lead that reached 12 goals in the third.

The Hawks wasted no time setting the tone when Hayden Chester scored just seconds 16 seconds into the contest for his first career goal, marking the second-fastest opening goal in program history. Later in the game, Chester's brother Riley also found the back of the net – the first time the siblings have scored in the same game for Monmouth.

Monmouth dominated possession and the scoreboard in the first half of play, taking a 12-1 lead into the locker room. The Hawks won 20 faceoffs for the game which marked the seventh time in program history Monmouth reached that mark and second time this season. Will Hohn Jr. was a perfect 9-for-9 on faceoff attempts to lead the way. Gavin Seaman added a career-high five ground balls as Monmouth finished with a season-best 37. The Hawks also caused eight turnovers – another season high.

Caffarelli's eight goals came on 12 shots, while Brendan Dundas notched his seventh career hat trick. Matt Porazzo recorded his second career multi-assist outing, and William Madden scored his first career goal in the fourth quarter.

The Hawks outscored Wagner in every quarter, including 8-0 in the second alone.
