WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ- The Monmouth University men's and women's track and field won their first full team meet of the season with a win at home in the 24
th Annual Monmouth Season Opener meet. The men scored 262.5 points over the last two days, nearly 185 points over second placed Manhattan. The women put up 203 points to beat MAAC rival Quinnipiac by 80 points. The Monmouth women have not lost at home since 2001 while the men are undefeated since 1996 in West Long Branch.

- "This was our first meet on the new track in Kessler Stadium, and we are so fortunate to have the support of Dr. Marilyn McNeil and everyone at the university who helped make this happen," said head coach Joe Compagni. "Both teams got off to a nice start today. Plenty to work on, without a doubt, but encouraging results in many areas in what was the first outdoor meet of the year for most of the team."
- Kyra Velock won the 800-meter run in 2:14.31 while Amber Stratz just behind in second in 2:14.44.
- Senior Allison Taub won the women's shot put with a ECAC qualifying mark of 46'11.5" while Jordan Wildermuth (44'8.75") and Prisca Blamon (44'7.5") also qualified for the ECAC Championships in May.
- The women's 4x400 relay team won the event with a time of 3:57.09.
- Jordan Wildermuth placed second in the hammer throw with a mark of 162'8".
- Mariah Hubbard finished second in the long jump with a jump of 18'1.75" while teammate Patrice Boston (17'9.75") placed 6th.
- Melanie Pfennig ran a strong 3000 meters to finish in second with a time of 10:52.38.
- Freshman Kelli Molnar finished third in the 400-meter hurdles by finishing in 1:05.2.
- Mariah Hubbard and Janelle Gibbs went 3-4 in the 100-meter hurdles by finishing in 15.63 and 16.17 seconds, respectively.
- Hubbard also finished as the second best collegian in the triple jump by jumping 38'3.25".
- Seniors Brianna Stratz and Chandi Piiru finished second and third with times of 57.21 and 58.01 seconds in the 400-meter dash.
- Iyanna Jenkins placed second in the 100-meter dash by finishing in 12.40 seconds.
- For the men, Montel Johnson posted a IC4A qualifying mark of 180'8" to finish 3rd.
- Mark Orlando (190'1") and Peter Flacco (184'6") finished as the top collegians in the javelin
- Nadale Buntin won the 400-meter dash with a IC4A qualifying time of 48.16 seconds.
- The men's 4x800 relay team won the event in 8:02.27.
- Slocum won the long jump with a mark of 24'7" while freshman Dorian Jackson placed third with a jump of 23'1.75".
- Slocum also finished second in the 100-meter dash by finishing in 10.99 seconds. Graduate student Bryan Sosoo ran in his first race for the Hawks since last outdoor season and placed fifth in 11.01 seconds.
- The Hawks claimed the top four spots in the men's 3000-meter run as Ryan Rafferty (8:39.57), Ryan Mitchell (8:40.54), Henry Sappey (8:46.95) and Matt Bodon (8:55.66) led the pack throughout the race.
- The men's 4x100 relay team posted an IC4A qualifying time of 41.38 seconds to win the event
- Tim Jacoutot finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a IC4A qualifying mark of 53.64 seconds while teammate Greg Stickle finished close behind in 3rd in 55.46 seconds.
- Corey Murphy's IC4A qualifying mark of 166'9" in the discus was good enough for a second place finish.
- Rickie Casazza cleared 6'4.25" to finish second in the high jump.
- Freshman Randy Showmaker cleared 14'6" in the pole vault to place second.
- Dan Maida took fourth in the 1500 meters by finishing in 4:01.62.
- Freshman Mohamed Diagourga placed fourth in 110-meter hurdles by finishing in 15.30 seconds.

- The Hawks will be on the road next week with a team going down to Williamsburg, Virginia for the Colonial Relays at the College of William & Mary Thursday through Saturday. Another group will compete at the Sam Howell Invitational at Princeton University Friday and Saturday.
