DANBURY, CT – Senior
Amanda Knaub (Enola, PA/Trinity) of the Monmouth University women's soccer team has been named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Defensive Player of the Year, the organization announced today.
Â
"Amanda had a tremendous senior season," said Monmouth head coach Krissy Turner. "She was instrumental in allowing us to be number one in the nation in three defensive statistical categories. This is a well-deserved achievement."
Â
Knaub was named the 2019 MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year in addition to being a First Team All-MAAC selection. The three-time MAAC Defensive Player of the Week started all 19 games in goal as a senior, allowing just four goals in 1780:45.
Â
She set the Monmouth team record and led the NCAA in goals-against average (0.202). In total, Knaub made 48 saves and led the nation with a single season program-record 0.923 save percentage. Her 15 shutouts tied the single-season program record, led the MAAC and ranked second in the NCAA.
Â
Knaub also was named to the All-ECAC First Team for the second time in her career.
