PRINCETON, NJ – Using a 16-0 run in the second half, Princeton held off the Monmouth University women's basketball team on Sunday afternoon, 52-40.

Monmouth led by as many as eight points late in the second quarter, but the Tigers held a 25-16 advantage in the second half. Princeton held a 20-9 advantage on the offensive glass, resulting in 15 second chance points.

Senior
Sierra Green (Queens, NY/Francis Lewis/Monroe CC) led the Hawks with 16 points and four assists, drilling three triples. Senior
Akilah Jennings (San Jose, CA/Presentation/UC Santa Barbara) added six points and six rebounds, while junior
Fatou Ndao (Kaffrine, Senegal/Pope John/Barton CC) compiled five points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Monmouth drops to 0-3 on the season, and will travel to San Diego for a Thanksgiving tournament beginning on Friday.

-The Hawks jumped out to an early 5-1 lead with a triple from senior
Rosa Graham and a layup from Jennings.
-After Princeton used an 7-0 run to take the lead, Green hit back-to-back triples. At the end of one, Monmouth led 14-13.
-Graham found senior
Alexa Middleton down low for an easy layup, and Ndao completed an and one. With 5:00 left in the second quarter, Monmouth led 19-15. The Hawks would later increase their run to 9-0 to go in front 23-15.
-The Tigers answered with a 9-0 run of their own to take a one-point lead late in the first half. After a Green free throw, Princeton hit a three at the buzzer to go ahead 27-24.

Lucy Thomas put Monmouth back ahead 32-31 with 6:25 left in the third.
-Five quick points from Green prefaced the third quarter media timeout, where Monmouth led 37-34.
-The Tigers ended the third quarter with a 7-0 run, and led 41-37 heading into the final frame.
-Princeton scored the first nine points of the fourth, extending its run to 16-0. A free throw from Jennings with 3:43 left ended the run.
-The Hawks were outscored 11-3 in the fourth quarter, resulting in the 52-40 setback.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
-Green scored in double-figures for the 25
th time in 34 games. Her four assists are a career-high at Monmouth.
-Over the last two games, Jennings has scored 17 points. Her six rebounds match a career-high.
-Ndao went a perfect 3-3 from the free throw line.
-Monmouth held Princeton to just 26.4% from the floor, including 17.2% from three.
-The Hawks turned the ball over 21 times, compared to Princeton's nine.
-Graham ended with six points, three rebounds, and two steals in a team-high 30 minutes.

The Hawks will travel across to country for the University of San Diego's Thanksgiving Tournament. Monmouth will play USD on Friday before facing either Texas Tech or Purdue Ft. Wayne on Saturday. Â
