WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University field hockey team renewed its rivalry with Rider and cruised to a 5-1 non-conference victory on Sunday afternoon at So Sweet A Cat Field.
Annick van Lange (Sint-Job, Belgium / Annuntia Institute) deposited a pair of second-half goals after Monmouth built a 2-0 lead following second quarter scores by
Ireen Frenken (Tilburg, Netherlands / Odulphus Lyceum) and
Hannah Schiavo (Glen Gardner, NJ / Voorhees).
The Hawks' 4-0 lead held until Rider finally solved Monmouth goalie
Kate O'Hogan (Dublin, Ireland / Mount Anville Secondary), who finished with a season-high six saves in the contest, in the 50
th minute.
Aylin Aufenacker (Hamburg, Germany / Gymnasium Eppendorf) answered with her seventh goal of the season a little more than five minutes later to complete the scoring for Monmouth.
