BIG FOURTH QUARTER PUSHES FIELD HOCKEY PAST UNH IN AE DEBUT

DURHAM, NH - In its first ever America East Conference game, the Monmouth University field hockey team scored four fourth-quarter goals in a span of 3:58 en route to a 5-1 road win at New Hampshire, Friday afternoon at Memorial Field.  Sophomore Annick van Lange (Sint-Job, Belgium / Annuntia Institute) and freshman Aylin Aufenacker (Hamburg, Germany / Gymnasium Eppendorf) each registered two goals for the Blue and White, which improve to 6-4 overall on the year.

Entering the fourth quarter with the game tied at 1-1, the Hawks defensive corner unit blocked a shot from the Wildcats (5-5) and quickly broke out on a fastbreak.  van Lange collected the ball near midfield and sent a long pass to Aufenacker who fired a shot above an attacking keeper for the game-winner.  53-seconds later, freshman Yasmin Pratt (Wicklow, Ireland / Kilkenny College HS) set up van Lange for her first of the afternoon, while Ireen Frenken (Tilburg, Netherlands / Odulphus Lyceum) scored off a corner in the 50th minute. van Lange capped off the scoring spree, cleaning up a loose ball off a corner and sending one to the back cage through the five-hole.

In the 10th minute Aufenacker got things started for the Hawks sending in a reverse shot into the netting to give the Blue and White a 1-0 lead it would eventually take into the break.  The Wildcat's second effort on a corner play in the 38th minute tied the game at 1-1.

Sophomore Kate O'Hogan (Dublin, Ireland / Mount Anville Secondary) made four saves in the victory.
