WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Baseball Head Coach
Dean Ehehalt has announced the signing of nine student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. MU welcomes four pitchers, two infielders, two catchers and one pitcher/infielder to the program.
"I'm very excited to be adding these fine young men to our program," said Ehehalt. "This is not only a talented group of players, but an exceptional group on the character and make-up side as well. This group will be a great addition to our Monmouth community."
Ehehalt adds two right-handed pitchers and two left-handed pitchers to the team, as well as a pair of catchers and two infielders. One incomer will both pitch and play the infield in the Blue and White. Six incoming Hawks are New Jersey natives, including four that compete locally in the Shore Conference. MU also adds two players from Pennsylvania and one from Maryland.
Ryan Bearse
Right Handed Pitcher | Howell, NJ | Howell
6'3 | 190 lbs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Bearse joins the Hawks after pitching at nearby Howell High School under Head Coach Eric Johnson. A three-time letterwinner for the Rebels, Bearse was named to the All-Tournament Team at the 2018 WWBA Northeast Qualifier hosted by Perfect Game. He also earned PG All-Tournament team honors at the 2018 PGBA 17U Mid-Atlantic Summer Championship, the 2017 Super25 Mid-Atlantic Super Qualifier and the 2017 16U BCS National Championship.
PERSONAL: Son of Teresa and Kevin Bearse… Majoring in health studies.
Dante Ciaramella
Right Handed Pitcher | Eatontown, NJ | Monmouth Regional
5'11 | 175 lbs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ciaramella pitched at nearby Monmouth Regional High School under Head Coach Paul Crivello. Through his first three seasons, he has posted a 10-3 record on the mound and was named Second Team All-State in Group Two. He helped the Falcons to a division title in 2017. He tossed a complete game four-hitter to beat Jackson Memorial in the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals in May 2018.
PERSONAL: Son of Maria Ciaramella… Majoring in business.
Trey Dombroski
Left Handed Pitcher | Manasquan, NJ | Wall
6'5 | 215 lbs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Dombroski pitched at local Wall High School under Head Coach Todd Schmitt. The left hander posted a 6-0 record with a 0.47 ERA as a sophomore before going 8-1 with a 0.54 as a junior. In 2018, he was named Shore Conference Player of the Year as well as the B North Pitcher of the Year. He was a First-Team All-Shore selection, as well as earning Asbury Park Press Player of the Year honors. In 2017, Dombroski earned Second-Team All Shore accolades and was named All-B North. He helped the Knights to the 2018 B North title, and was a member of the Carpenter Cup.
PERSONAL: Son of Ellen and Howard, Jr. … Majoring in business accounting… Brother, Regan also pitches for the Hawks.
Brock Goodwin
Left Handed Pitcher | Pasadena, MD | Saint Mary's
6'4 | 200 lbs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Goodwin pitched under Head Coach Mike Bronokowski at Saint Mary's High School. He was named to the 2019 MSABC Preseason All-State Team, and was twice named to the Rawlings Preseason Underclass All-American Team, doing so in 2017 and 2018. Goodwin was listed under Perfect Game's top 500 national ranking, and was a 2016 WWBA Underclass World Championship All-Tournament Team member.
PERSONAL: Son of Erin and Bruce Goodwin… Majoring in business accounting.
James Harmstead
Infielder | Manasquan, NJ | Manasquan
5'11 | 230 lbs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Harmstead played the infield at Manasquan High School for Head Coach Brendan Gordon. He helped the Warriors to a 2017 state title, and was named Second Team All-Conference and First Team All Group Two while at Manasquan. He earned an All-Tournament Team nod at the Perfect Game 2018 WWBA Northeast Qualifier, while earning the same honor in 2017 along with being named All-Tournament at the 2017 WWBA Underclass World Championship.
PERSONAL: Son of Tracey and Walter Harmstead… Major is undecided.
Brady Mutz
Catcher | Swarthmore, PA | Strath Haven
6'0 | 190 lbs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Mutz played catcher at Strath Haven High School under Head Coach Brian Fili. He posted a .412 career batting average, collecting 28 hits and 32 RBI's while navigating a .994 fielding percentage. Mutz was named First Team All-Central League and Second Team All-County as a junior, and earned a spot on the Carpenter Cup team as a sophomore for the first time. Mutz participated in the Big 26 Baseball Classic in 2018.
PERSONAL: Son of Tracey and Sam Mutz… Majoring in homeland security.
Harry Padden
Infielder | Pittsgrove, NJ | Arthur P. Schalick
6'3 | 190 lbs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Padden played the infield at Arthur P. Schalick High School under Head Coach Sean O'Brien. Primarily playing the middle infield in high school, Padden hit .444 as a junior with 34 hits. He set the single-season record for triples with six, and also set the program's record for defensive assists. He was named First Team All-Tri County as a junior, and also picked up a spot in the Carpenter Cup. Philly.com named Padden Third Team All-South Jersey, and he was named to the South Jersey Times All-Area Team. Padden also was named All-Conference in track in high school.
PERSONAL: Son of Arlene and Harry Padden… Majoring in business.
Philip Stahl
Catcher | Levittown, PA | Holy Ghost Preparatory
5'11 | 215 lbs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Stahl caught at Holy Ghost Preparatory School under Head Coach Greg Olenski. He was named First Team Bucks County Golden Team, and Third Team All-Southeastern PA. As a freshman and sophomore, Stahl was an honorable mention Bucks County Golden Team. He earned First Team All-League honors as a junior, and Second Team as a freshman.
PERSONAL: Son of Kolleen and Philip Stahl… Major is undecided.
Joey Ventresca
Infielder/Right Handed Pitcher | Little Egg Harbor, NJ | Pinelands Regional
5'10 | 185 lbs.
HIGH SCHOOL: Ventresca pitched and played the infield at Pinelands Regional High School. He hit .391 at the plate, and struck out 121 in 94.1 innings with just 29 walks, equating in a 2.00 ERA. Ventresca was named First Team All-B South, as well as Second Team All-B South twice and Second Team All-Conference three times. He was a Perfect Game All-American Honorable Mention and an Under Armour All-America.
PERSONAL: Son of Jodi Clayton and Joe Ventresca… Majoring in communications.
