JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Monmouth University women's swimming team earned a conference victory over Saint Peter's on Saturday afternoon, winning by a wide margin, 211-50.

The Hawks knocked off the Peacocks and fell to LIU Brooklyn, moving their overall record to 5-7 and their MAAC record to 3-3. The men's team dropped to 6-4 on the season and 2-3 in conference action with their loss to Saint Peter's.

Camryn McHugh led the women's team with individual wins in the 100-yard backstroke and the 50-yard butterfly and was also part of the winning 200-yard medley relay team. On the men's side, Callan Smith continued his winning ways with three individual triumphs. Smith won the 500-yard freestyle, the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard freestyle.

Monmouth's 200-yard medley relay team of Muriel Maloney, Jaclyn Greening, Camryn McHugh and Bradie Keelen placed first in 1:51.16.

Camryn McHugh claimed the top spot in the 50-yard butterfly with her time of 26.45. She also touched the wall first in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.23. McHugh reached 20 individual wins for the 2018-19 season.

Callan Smith placed first in the 500-yard freestyle, winning in 4:44.65. Smith also won the 100-yard backstroke (52.67) and the 200-yard butterfly (1:44.49). Smith increased his season victory total to 27 with his three first-place finishes.

Kevin Del Giorno won the 50-yard backstroke by touching the wall in 24.13. Del Giorno won the second race of his freshman season.

Freshman Dylan Barkhuizen won the 100-yard butterfly in 53.20. It was Barkhuizen's seventh victory of 2018-19.

Monmouth closes its regular season schedule next Saturday afternoon when the men's team faces NJIT and the women's team matches up with Sacred Heart in Fairfield, CT at 12 p.m.
