STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Monmouth University men's track and field won their second straight meet after winning the Penn 8-Team Select meet at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The women's team finished second behind hosts Penn with 78 points. Junior
Khalid Slocum continued his strong season by excelling both in the sprints and long jump.

- "We has some areas that were very strong today, and many others where we know we have to be better technically and execute better," said head coach Joe Compagni. "It was nice to come out on top in a competitive scored meet, and we're looking forward to more improvements in the weeks ahead."
- The men won the event with 109.66 points over teams from Rutgers, Penn, Stony Brook, Fordham, Providence, Wagner and Saint Joseph's.
- Slocum won the 60-meter dash in 6.90 seconds.
- Freshman Mohamed Diagourga placed third in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.52 seconds.
- Freshman Nadale Buntin ran the 400-meter dash in 48.18 seconds to finish second.
- Slocum and Buntin finished 2-3 in the 200-meter dash by finishing in 21.37 and 22.00 seconds, respectively.
- Derek Vander Woude tied for fourth in the high jump by clearing 6'2".
- Darius Howe won the long jump with a IC4A qualifying mark of 32'3". Slocum posted a IC4A qualifying mark of 23'1" to finish third.
- Michael Pepper tied for second in the triple jump with a jump of 47'6".
- Corey Murphy improved on his season-high mark in the shot put by winning with a mark of 61'3.5". Andrew Huisman took third with a mark of 51'4".
- Murphy's mark is currently #19 in all of the NCAA.
- Montel Johnson finished second in the weight throw with a mark of 56'4".
- The women finished second ahead of teams from St. John's, Stony Brook, Temple, Rutgers, Providence and St. Joseph's.
- Allie Wilson recorded a new school record in the 800-meter run by finishing in 2:06.29. This time is now the sixth best time in the NCAA currently this season.
- Viviane Orleans placed third in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.91 seconds.
- Ashley McKinnon and Patrice Baston finished 2-3 in the long jump with marks of 18'2" and 18'1".
- Mariah Hubbard won the triple jump with a jump of 38'4.5".
- Allison Taub continued a strong start to the season with a mark of 47'1.5".
- The 4x400 relay team of Brianna Stratz, Naomi Miranda, Wilson and Chandi Piiru finished third in 3:52.37.
NEXT UP
- The Hawks will again hit the road and split the team between two meets with groups of athletes competing at the Kane Invitational at Cornell University on Saturday. Another group will travel to Penn State for the Penn State National Invitational on Friday and Saturday.
